Get to Know the Person Behind Your Property
by Vaughan Copping on Wednesday, 29th of November 2017

Your investment property is one of your most valuable assets. When you choose a property manager, you’re choosing to trust that person to look after that asset with your best interests at heart. But, what do you really know about your property manager? Well, meet Kristy Yates, the person behind your property!

Kristy wasn’t always a Perth native, growing up in Patterson Lakes in Melbourne. The move to Perth was a welcome one for Kristy, who says she “loves everything about Perth, from the people to the weather and the beautiful places to visit”. Kristy loves that uniquely relaxed atmosphere of Perth.

We caught up with Kristy and asked her to tell us what makes her tick when it comes to property management.

How long have you been in property management?

I got my start in property management over seven years ago in a boutique agency in Melbourne. As an assistant property manager, I worked alongside the business owner and that really ignited my passion for the industry. That’s when I decided that I wanted to manage my own agency. I worked hard to get the right experience and develop the skill set to achieve this goal. I have been working in the Perth market for over five years now and love the people I meet and the relationships I am developing.

What do you love about your job?

I love to help owners achieve their investment goals. Whether it’s supporting them to grow their portfolio or simply managing it; this allows my clients to have more time to do what they love. It’s also very rewarding being recognised for delivering exceptional service and striving to be a positive ambassador for the industry.

What goal have you spent this year working to achieve?

Commit to CANI – Constant And Never-ending Improvement – in everything we do at PPM. This involves challenging the established systems and procedures, and finding better ways to do them. Anything we change must improve the experience or service delivery for our owners and tenants.

Where will we find you on a Sunday?

On a rare day off in property management, you’ll find me relaxing at home and spending as much time with my puppy as possible! But it is property management… So there’s always a little bit of work to do on a Sunday!

What are you words to live by?

The secret to success is simple: find a way to do more for others than anyone else does. Become more valuable. Do more. Give more. Be more. Serve more. And you will have the opportunity to feel true fulfilment.
